Brandeso in Literature
The name “Brandeso” brings with it a huge literary resonance, and the pazo was the favorite retreat of two of the great Galician writers of all time: Valle Inclán and the Countess of Pardo Bazán.
AUTUMN SONATA
It was undoubtedly the euphony of Brandeso that attracted Valle Inclán to describe the pazo in which the Marqués de Bradomín's love affairs with poor Concha in "Autumn Sonata" had to run. Valle Inclán knew the Pazo de Brandeso, where he not only made frequent visits, but even spent seasons, due to his great friendship with the Gasset family, then owners of Brandeso and also of the Torre Junqueras pazo in Puebla del Caramiñal .
Valle, the great precious, the greatest of the writers that Galicia has produced, with that enormous and unique sensitivity for the word, was captivated by the name of Brandeso and adopted it for his own literary creation without more than changing it in his work for that of San Clemente de Brandeso its true invocation of San Lorenzo de Brandeso.
